2004
The first My Little Pony Convention was held at the end of
November 2004 at The Platform in Morecambe. The event
was organised by collector Victoria Stapleton. It was a great event with plenty of pony collectors
attending from Europe and America to buy, sell and display
their My Little Ponies. Hasbro also attended the convention, bringing along some of the new G3 ponies and a large
Sunny Daze model which was the centre piece on the
stage. The convention was attended by a local children's
dance troupe who performed dances set
to My Little Pony Music. The charity auction raised £100 for H.A.P.P.A.
Following the event, several articles about the event were published, the most
prominent being a news article in Christmas edition of the Telegraph. 2005
The convention was then set to return for a second year in
Manchester with the theme of Butterfly Island to coincide
with the new release of ponies. Sarah-Ann Small and Laura Cundall worked very hard
to build on the foundations of the previous year in
delivering a spectacular event. Held at Sacha's Hotel in
Manchester, 2005's convention was attended by even
more collectors including some from the Canary Islands.

Hasbro attended again this year with a sneak peek for
convention attendees of the new Crystal Princess range,
due to be released the next year. This year, the Convention raised money for the Starlight Children's foundation. A total of £570.64 was
raised throughout the day through events such as an auction
and custom competitions. Stunning entries included Escarchita's beautiful pony scene of Charlie and the Chocolate factory and the dozens of custom ponies that were displayed for the Custom Contest.
2006
The 2006 Convention was held at the Britannia Hotel in Birmingham and was the first time that the convention was run by committee. It was also the first year that the convention had its very own mascot, Sprinkles the Wingless Breezie designed by Archer.
2006 also saw several events running before the convention itself, such as Piper's Calendar Contest, Custom Raffle and BabyKittenCandy's Sweet Scoops Calendar Contest. Rubber wristbands were also on sale this year, organised by Magick. You could buy a blue of pink (or both) inscribed with the lettering MLP Convention 2006. On top of all this, MummyMeadowSweet and Joanna made and sold exclusive Convention keyrings featuring Joanna's beautiful artwork of Rarity the unicorn.
The two day event was worth the wait with lots of exciting competitions happening throughout both days and, of course, plenty of ponies. A stall was run on the Saturday representing the My Little Pony Arena by running a raffle and selling beautiful jewellery made by Faerielantern. Redwings Horse Sanctuary, the chosen charity of last year, had a stall on both days, selling some of their merchandise to raise money for the horses, ponies and donkeys that they help.
Again this year, more fabulous competition entries appeared raising the bar for the Pony Scene Contest with a Chinese festival scene made by Sparkly Sherbert taking first prize along with a zoo and a working carousel to name but a few. There were also tables full of wonderful custom ponies that had been entered into the Custom Contest. The auction was a huge success this year, helping to raise a massive £1150 for Redwings.
